Kenneth "Kenny" Everett Erickson Kenneth "Kenny" Everett Erickson, age 79 of De Soto, died on Sunday evening, June 6, 2004 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua where he had been a resident since May 13, 2004. He was born in Vernon County on October 31, 1924 to Sever and Hazel (De Lap) Erickson. He married Betty Brinkman and they were later divorced. They had farmed on Oak Ridge, rural Stoddard for over twenty years. On September 27, 1975 he married Eunice Oliver Rumsey. They lived in De Soto and he owned and operated Erickson Electric prior to his retiring. He was very active in the Genoa Lions Club and served as president. In 1995 he was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated service to the Lions Club Foundation. He also was an active member at the New Hope United Methodist Church at Red Mound, rural De Soto until his health began to fail. Kenny was proud of his work as an electrician and had served as secretary-treasurer of the Vernon County Electrician's Association. Kenny is survived by his wife, Eunice of De Soto; three daughters, Kathleen (Bruce) Myhre of Stoddard, Karen (Donald) McAllister of Westby and Karla (Tom) Garrett of Lansing, Iowa; two sons, Arne (Vicky) Erickson of Parker, South Dakota and Jerry "Joe" (Tina) Erickson of La Crosse; one sister, Charlotte Yaun of Westby; three brothers, Howard Erickson of Viroqua, Sherman (Loma) Erickson of De Soto and Charles "Pete" (Marjorie) Erickson of Westby; one stepson, James (Marsha) Rumsey of Onalaska; three stepdaughters, Lorna Burroughs of Waukon, Iowa, Judith (Alan) McCullick of Mt. Sterling and Rosemary (Alan) Averkamp of Genoa; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Hilda Oliver of De Soto; and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Scott McAllister; two sisters-in-law, Florene Erickson and Violet Oliver; and three brothers-in-law, Fritz Yaun, Odean Oliver and George Oliver. Blessed be his memory. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the New Hope United Methodist Church at Red Mound with Pastor Jan Meyer and Pastor Marlene Lake officiating. The vocalist was Gloria Warmuth and the organist was Doris Halverson. Burial was at the Walnut Mound Cemetery at Retreat. Serving as pallbearers were Norm Jambois, Martin Osinski, Fred Pedretti, Arnie Schmidt, Greg Furlano and Marv Christianson. A visitation and prayer service was held on Wednesday at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua. The family directed memorials to the New Hope United Methodist Church. Kenneth Everett Erickson was enumerated on the census of 1930 in Sterling Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin, USAG. He was Event bef 1951 in Wisconsin, USAG, 399-22-7321. Biography

Andrew Russell DeLap was born on 7 Jul 1887 in Franklin, Vernon County, Wisconsin, USAG.1,2 He and Elizabeth Sheldon were married on 29 Dec 1905. He died on 3 May 1950, at age 62, in Wheatland Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin, USAG.
Russell Andrew DeLap, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charley DeLap, was born in Vernon County, July 7, 1888. He passed away at his home in Victory, Saturday morning, May 13, after a lingering illness. He was married to Lizzie Sheldon December 29, 1905. To this union were born ten children. Russell followed farming until 1934 when he took up other employment until his death. Russell was a good father, neighbor and friend and was always willing to help those in need. He will be missed by his family and friends. January 8, 1939, he was baptized by Pastor Harry Barr and united with the Church of Christ in La Crosse. Survivors include his wife, four daughters, (Hazel) Mrs. Sever Erickson, (May) Mrs. Earl Gilman, (Hope) Mrs. Percy Sandwick, and (Ona) Mrs. Leonard Veglahn; six sons, Frederick, Vernon, Ray, Berlie, Nathan and Donald; twenty-five grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph and Reuben of Viroqua; also three sisters, Mrs. William Prindle of Trempealeau, Mrs. George Boardman, La Crosse, and Mrs. Robert Sidie, Viroqua; besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Victory residence and at the Victory church on Tuesday afternoon, May 16, by Rev. Roy Williams, assisted by Rev. Nesheim. Burial was in the Victory cemetery. Hope Geneva DeLap was born on 18 Jun 1918 in Wisconsin, USAG. She and Percy Guy Sandvick were married on 24 Jun 1935. She died on 1 Apr 1996, at age 77, in Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, USAG.
Hope Geneva Sandwick Viroqua/Redmound, Wis. -- Hope Geneva Sandwick, 77, died Monday, April 1, 1996, in Bethel Home, Viroqua, where she had been a resident since June 19, 1995. She was born June 18, 1918, in the town of Jefferson, Vernon County, to Russell and Lizzie (Sheldon) DeLap. She completed the eighth grade at Victory Elementary School. She married Percy Sandwick June 24, 1935. They farmed and also operated a filling station in Redmound, rural De Soto, for several years. Percy died March 23, 1981. In August 1989, she moved to Viroqua. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lurtheran faith and held her church membership in De Soto Lutheran Church, where she as also a member of the Hope Circle. She is survived by two sisters, Mae Gilman and Ona Veglahn, both of Viroqua; a brother, Donald (Muriel) DeLap of Ridgeland; two special nieces, Myrna (Derold) Grimsled of Madison and Bernadine (Russell) Lehmann of Madison; several other relatives, and many friends. She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Maynard; a sister, Hazel Erickson; and five brothers, Fred, Vernon, Ray, Berlie and Nathan DeLap. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 1996 in De Soto Lutheran Church. Pastor Jean C. Kloss will officiate and burial will be in Victory Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thorson Funeral Home, Viroqua, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Hope Geneva DeLap was enumerated on the census of 1930 in Genoa City, Vernon County, Wisconsin, USAG. She was Event bef 1951 in Wisconsin, USAG, 396-26-0274. She resided in Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, USAG, in Apr 1996.
