Albert G. Engebretson Albert Gordon Engebretson, 74 of Longview, Washington, died April 11, 1999, at a local nursing home. He was born February 16, 1925 , in Ismay, Montana, to Elmer and Helen (Higgins) Engebretson and had lived in Longview for 29 years. Previously, he had lived in Oroville, Washington, from 1967 to 1971. He was raised in Terry, Montana, where he graduafed from high school. He graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana majoring in business administration and political science. Mr. Engebretson was a master sergeant in the United States Army, serving as a medic in the 168th General Hospital and the 22nd Infantry during World War II. He served in the Army Reserve as a lieutenant during the 1950s. He worked for the United States Customs Service from 1957 until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Longview School Board and a former member of the Kiwanis. Hobbies and interests included woodworking, trout fishing, sports, politics, crossword puzzles, reading, and big band and country andwestern music. He coached youth baseball and was a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed his family. He and Wilma Jean Hines were married December 7, 1950. She survives him at home. Also surviving are four sons, Bill Engebretson of Kobe, Japan, Bobby Engebretson of Valdez, Alaska, Tony Engebretson of Big Bear City, California, and Eric Engebretson of Kelso, Washington; two brothers, Ray Sallgren of Miles City, Montana, and Bob Sallgren in Arizona; three sisters, Edna Pangburn and Marie Reamy, both of Billings, Montana, and June Sallgren of Lacey, Washington; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Barbara Ann Engebretson died in 1966. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park with the Rev. Ted Cotton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Boys and Girls Ranch Foundation, P.O. Box 80807, Billings, Montana 59108- 0807.
