He ttended Tulelake Elementary School before graduating from Tulelake High School in 1963. he then went to Sourtern Oregon University and American River Junior College.

Returning to Tulelake, he farmed with his father until 1982.

He next went to work for Tulelake Irrigation District and continued working there until his death.

Mr. Callas joined the Tulelake Volunteer Fired Department in 1974 and held the positions of president anc captain prior to being elected chief in 1984.

During the past 14 years, he was instrumental in obtaining a Jaws of Life apparatus, tunrouts for the Tulelake and Newell fire departments, several new fire trucks, a new fire hall and a firefighter certification program through the College of the Siskiyous, where he was a member of the advirosy board.

He married Peggy Lee Bryan in 1975.

Mr. Callas enjoyed watching his daughters play volleyball, basketball, and softball and helping them with their 4-H horse and swine projects.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Tulelake; daughters, Angie of Klamath Falls and Carrie of Tulelake; sister, Diane Kellstrom of Bend; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Harry Childers of Chiloquin; mother-in-law, Gladys Peppers of Klamath Falls; and numerous nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
